According to a report by Catalunya Radio (as per The Mirror), the Brazilian center back made himself available to join Los Blaugranas recently, when he took advantage of a trip to Barcelona to enter negotiations with the club. Luiz traveled to Barcelona for medical reasons, but he ended up turning the trip into a business one, according to those reports.
The former PSG defender has been banished by Chelsea boss Antonio Conte from the team's squad, and with the World Cup around the corner, David Luiz wants to keep playing to maintain his spot in A Canarinha's roster to play in the quatrennial competition.
This isn't the first time in which the Brazilian defender's name has emerged as a possible signing for Barcelona, but none of those attempts have worked out.
This time, Javier Mascherano's departure to the Chinese Super League opens up a spot in the team's roster, and with Samuel Umtiti currently recovering from an injury, adding one more defender to the mix would be crucial in Barcelona's hopes for success in all competitions.
David Luiz's reckless behavior on the pitch may be seen as a setback to have him joining Los Culés, but his ball-handling skills could fit Ernesto Valverde's signing if a deal is reached.
