Liverpool has released footage of the penalty that Everton won, which Rooney converted en route to the 1-1 draw.

After Sunday’s 1-1 draw in the Merseyside Derby, Jurgen Klopp was left fuming over a penalty awarded to Everton. The host was leading 1-0 at the time, but Rooney equalized from the spot to earn the Toffees a point.

Dejan Lovren gave away the penalty by pushing Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but many felt the 20-year-old dived. A new video released by the Reds shows the Croatian defender’s contact with the Englishman inside the box, and Liverpool fans can be forgiven for feeling cheated.

In another edition of Inside Anfield, Liverpool posted an 11-minute video of the derby. At 8:40, we see Calvert-Lewin drop to the floor despite minimum contact. Maybe the camera angle paints a different picture, but the player did later (jokingly) admit to diving.

Fast forward to 8:40 to watch the incident

Klopp’s side, fifth in the table, will return to action on Wednesday. The club hosts West Brom and will be keen on winning in order to avoid a slip-up in their top-four race.
