The German will be out of contract once this season ends, and could reunite with the Special One in a Bosman transfer.

As if losing Mesut Ozil on a free transfer wasn’t enough, Arsenal fans might see the talented German plying his trade for a direct rival next season. The contract rebel has been linked with a move to Man United, with Jose Mourinho refusing to rule out those rumors.

It’s not hard to see why the World Cup winner is being linked with an Old Trafford switch: he would reunite with the Special One, a manager whom he enjoyed great success under during their time together at the Bernabeu. Jose has gotten the best out of the playmaker and could do so once more.

The 29-year-old reportedly wants out of the Emirates. His contract is due to expire next summer and the North London side is nowhere near tying him down to an extension.

Mourinho, who met with the press ahead of Saturday’s clash between Arsenal and Man United, was asked if he could sign the 29-year-old for free next summer. Jose smiled and replied: “No comment.”

Although the Portuguese tactician refused to speak of Ozil, he discussed the situation that the German is in. “There are other important players in Europe in other teams that they finish their contracts. Sometimes players decide to go in this direction, which is the right that they have,” Jose added, as per the Daily Mail.

Mourinho is a known admirer of Ozil, having hailed him as the best No.10 in the world. Signing him for free next summer would elevate Man United and shatter the Gunners.

As of now, though, the German is an Arsenal player. He has enjoyed a recent resurgence in form, putting in excellent displays in the win over Tottenham and Huddersfield. Mesut will be hoping to devastate the Red Devils in their visit to the Emirates Stadium.
