Real Madrid’s injured striker Gonzalo Higuain is set to undergo surgery in the USA. The Argentine forward could miss two to three months of action following his upcoming operation.
At first, Gonzalo Higuain’s back injury was reported to be severe enough to end the player’s season. But other info from Spain emerging on Wednesday claimed that Real Madrid's declaration was an exaggeration of the case as the goal poacher might miss “only” 8 weeks of action.

Finally, Real Madrid’s official website reported on Thursday that Higuain’s back operation will take place on Tuesday next week at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. The man behind the knife will be Richard G. Fessler, MD – an internationally well-known professor of neurological surgery.

According to RealMadrid.com, the choice of this particular place for the player to undergo treatment was made not only by the club but also by Gonzalo Higuain himself as well as by the rest of his family. Precisely, the Argentine is going to have surgery on his herniated disc and Dr. Fessier – who is the Chief of the school’s Department of Neurological Surgery – is trusted to executed a great job.

In the meantime, Higuain may opt to watch Thursday night's Levante vs Real Madrid Copa del Rey match on TV. His team rattled Levante 8-0 in the first leg of this encounter as they closed 2010 on a wonderful note. Los Blancos are widely tipped to sail through to the Last 8 of the competition with ease.
