The January transfer window is now open and Chelsea’s desperate coach Carlo Ancelotti wants his side to get active on the market. New signings might make the trick for the Blues, Ancelotti believes.
Chelsea’s 1-0 win against Bolton in their last English Premier League match of the year 2010 didn’t signify the end of troubles for the domestic champions. In fact, it only marked the Blues’ second victory in 9 EPL games which couldn’t follow with another triumph at home to Aston Villa last Sunday.

Against the Villains, Chelsea were on the brink of clinching a vital win to break back into the top four. However, more disappointment saw them stumble to a last gasp equalizer as they had to settle for a 3-3 draw and a single point at the end of proceedings.

Presently, Chelsea are 5th in the English Premier League and 6 points adrift leaders Manchester United who have played a game less than the Blues. The competition is tight at the top too – with Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur locked within 5 points in second, third and fourth place respectively.

As Chelsea fans anxiously wonder about the unfortunate period in which the team is going through, under-pressure manager Carlo Ancelotti has tried to give a solution. Looking back at Chelsea’s miserable injury worries and 3-3 at Stamford Bridge against Aston Villa, the Italian boss commentated:

“We need some players. We have to look at the condition of Alex when he comes back this week from Brazil.

“[Against Aston Villa], Bruma played very well. But, without Alex and Ivanovic, we lose energy on high balls and we conceded the second goal for this reason.

“I’m disappointed because when we deserve to win, you need to win.”

At the moment, wins aren’t coming regularly for Chelsea and only the January transfer window may help them resolve their difficult condition. Next up, Chelsea have an English Premier League match to play against Wolves who just lost to West Ham at the weekend. The public will be curious to know if Wolverhampton Wanderers have what it takes - not only to embarrass Chelsea, but to upset yet another giant side after shocking Liverpool late in December.

Back to transfer news surrounding Chelsea and the big rumour is that Real Madrid’s Kaka could be on his way to the Bridge – whether in January or in June, but will this really materialize? Chelsea might have to focus on other options on the transfer market...
