Arsenal set record with 5-2 win over Everton

Arsenal set record with 5-2 win vs Everton on Wenger’s birthday

October 22, 2017 By Ali M.
On the day the Frenchman turns 68, his Gunners side wrote their name in history.

On Sunday, Arsenal traveled to Everton for one of two highly-anticipated Sunday matches. The Gunners struggled at Goodison Park last season, and fans were eager to see how their team would fare after last weekend’s 2-1 loss to Watford.

The north London giants began well, but in typical fashion, conceded a goal against the run of play. Furthermore, Wayne Rooney was the scorer as he continued his fine form against Wenger’s side.

Fortunately for Arsenal, their men bounced back. An equalizer followed in the first half before turning up the performance in the second half. The FA Cup holders ended the match with a huge victory, thrashing the Toffees 5-2 to pile up more pressure on under-fire Ronald Koeman.

Goals from Monreal, Ozil, Lacazette, Ramsey, and Alexis sealed this precious win. Moreover, Arsenal earned more than just three points, as the win saw them set an impressive record.

The Gunners scored their 100th Premier League goal against Everton in Sunday’s winning, becoming the first team to net a century of goals against a single opponent in the English top-flight. This performance showed fans that the Gunners’ attack is capable of ripping apart opponents.

The win was all the more enjoyable for Arsene Wenger, as it coincided with his 68th birthday. This is the third time in his career that he won on his birthday, having previously done so in 2005 and 2006.
