Earlier this season, Lazio defeated Juventus in the Supercoppa Italiana. The Bianconeri will be loath to allow this to happen again, but they saw their 100 per cent winning record end as they were held to a 2-2 draw with Atalanta prior to the international break. With Champions League action coming up, Massimiliano Allegri will have to figure out how to rotate his squad in order to keep everyone fresh. Sami Khedira has returned from injury, but Miralem Pjanic is now out injured, and joins Benedikt Howedes on the treatment table.
As for Lazio, they have done quite excellently thus far. They come into this game having thrashed Sassuolo 6-1 before the international break. More important, the international break has given Simone Inzaghi time to incorporate some of his injured players, meaning that the visitors will be at nearly full strength for the match. Regardless, La Vecchia Signora are still the heavy favorites due to the fact that they're playing at home.

Napoli presently enjoy a two point advnatage over the chasing pack thanks to seven wins out of seven. They have already beaten Lazio so far this season and come into this game having beaten Cagliari 3-0. With 25 goals scored and five conceded, the Partenopei have the strongest attack in the league and are only second to Inter in terms of the strongest defense, and some calcio observers have already started to wonder if this really could be the season if they could challenge Juventus for the Scudetto. In terms of absentees, only Arkadiusz Milik will be missing for the visitors, but given how Dries Mertens excelled in the false no. 9 role in the Polish attacker's absence, Napoli shouldn't struggle much in terms of attacking options.
As for Roma, they're still struggling to find their identity under Eusebio Di Francesco. Although the Giallorossi beat AC Milan, they come into this game dealing with a spate of injuries, including Stephan El Shaarawy, Patrick Schick and Gregoire Defrel. Whilst Daniele De Rossi and Lorenzo Pellegrini had to leave international duty due to fitness issues, they will likely be able to feature here, but Kevin Strootman is another who likely will not be risked with a Champions League fixture against Chelsea coming up.
