Roman Torres' goal sealed Los Canaleros' spot in the World Cup, and the country's president had a special gift for the fans.

This will be a great example against those who claim that football "is just a game", and you shouldn't take it too seriously.

Following Panama's historical World Cup Qualifying round, which saw La Marea Roja secure their spot in Russia, President Juan Carlos Varela decided to "join the party" and let everyone celebrate the historical feat. In order to do that, Varela decided to give everyone a day off, so they could party all night.

"The people's voice has been heard. Celebrate this historical day for Panama. Tomorrow will be a National Holiday"

All activities in the country ceased, including schools, private and public companies. Panama's president made it official by signing a presidential decree earlier today.

"The document's been signed, you deserve it! Long live 'La Sele'. Long live Panama!"

Los Canaleros will join Iceland as the two debutant countries in the 2018 World Cup.
