The Frenchman, who was celebrating his 21-year anniversary with the Gunners, surpassed Sir Alex Ferguson's previous record.

On Sunday, Arsenal took to the field for their Premier League clash with Brighton and Hove Albion. The Gunners welcomed the newly-promoted side knowing that victory could take them to fifth – ahead of Liverpool for the meanwhile.

And triumph they did, as the Gunners ran out 2-0 winners in the early kick-off. Goals in each half from Nacho Monreal and Alex Iwobi respectively earned the hosts all three points.

It was a vital win. The north London outfit can now head into the upcoming international break on the back of a win – their fourth straight victory in all competitions and their third consecutive clean sheet in the league.

It was a special game for Arsene Wenger, as the victory saw him celebrate his 21st anniversary as manager of the Gunners. Furthermore, the French tactician set an impressive record with the win.

Brighton and Hove Albion became the 45th different team in the English top-flight that Le Prof has beaten. Wenger, who was tied at 44 with previous record holder Sir Alex Ferguson, has now surpassed the tally of the legendary Scottish tactician.

With Wenger unlikely to step down before his contract ends, the Arsenal manager could add to his tally. He now has bragging rights over his former arch nemeses.
