Match Facts & Stats

  • Tottenham have won just two of their last eight away UCL fixtures
  • This will be the first meeting between APOEL and Spurs
  • APOEL have lost five of their last nine Champions League ties at home

Spurs aiming to build on shaky away record...and are missing several key players

Both sides come into this match on opposide sides of the table. Tottenham earned a hard-fought 3-1 win against Dortmund on matchday one and thus so far have earned three points, thus setting them up nicely as die Schwarzgelben arguably are a direct rival for an automatic qualifying spot for the round of 16. By contrast, APOEL ended up losing 3-0 to reigning UCL champs Real Madrid, although that was hardly a shock and will now face an uphill battle in what was already a very tough group for the Cypriot side.

However, Mauricio Pochettino's side arrive without the services of several key players on matchday two. Both Jan Vertonghen and Dele Alli will miss this fixture due to suspension, with Vertonghen being sent off during the win against Dortmund earlier this month and Alli still having to complete the second of his three-match ban. Meanwhile, Victor Wanyama, Christian Eriksen, Danny Rose, Mousa Dembele, and Erik Lamela are all set to miss out, and Eriksen's absence is particularly worrying as the Danish international has been in great form for Spurs in both domestic and continental competition.

Meanwhile, whilst APOEL don't have any suspended players, they could be missing several personnel, including Lorenzo Ebecilio, Zhivko Milanov, George Efrem, Facundo Bertoglio all due to injury.
