The English striker pleaded guilty during today's hearing, where reports hinted he was almos three times over the legal limit.

Wayne Rooney's return to Everton was quite successful, but his problems away from the pitch keep hauting the laureated English footballer.

Today, the former English captain pleaded guilty to a drunk-driving charge from earlier this month, and was handed a two-year ban without a driver's license due to this incident. The former Manchester United player will also have to perform community service for 12 months.

Rooney was pulled over by a police officer around 2 a.m. on Sept. 1. Hours later, a report revealed that after a breath test, Rooney was three times over the legal drinking limit while behind the wheel of a Volkswagen limit.

Later today, the footballer issued a press release via Twitter, where he apologized to his fans and family for the incident.

Earlier this month, Rooney retired from International duty. The player retired as England's all-time top scorer, with 53 goals.
