The Argentine striker is the best paid player in the world, but he won't be able to perform on the pitch until he gets fit.

Life in China has been anything but easy for Carlos Tévez, and now, his new boss has decided to exclude him temporarily from Shanghai Shenhua's squad. The reason? Tevez has gained a few pounds over there.

According to the team's new coach, Wu Jingui, Tévez and fellow South American footballer Fredy Guarín will not be playing for the team until they reach a proper weight, while prompting them to honour their professional activity with a proper workout.

"I won't pick him to play for now. He's not fully fit to do so. If you're not in shape to give your best, it doesn't make any sense to have you around. Tévez and Guarín have to embrace the responsibility of playing for this team," Jingui stated.

The new coach hinted that Tévez's time on the sidelines could be extended, as he's used to coach big players" and he's never chosen his starting lineups considering his players' "reputation".

Tévez, who's return to South American football seems closer than ever, has only played 14 games after signing the most lucrative deal for a footballer playing in the Chinese Super League. Unfortunately for the club, their investment hasn't paid off, as Tévez has only scored twice and handed out four assists.
