The Argentine wrote his name in history after breaking the deadlock vs the Reds.

Man City vs Liverpool was always going to be an action packed game, and it did not disappoint after 45 minutes. There were goals from Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus, a sending off for Sadio Mane, and an awful injury to Ederson – a result of the Liverpool attacker’s red-card tackle.

Whilst many will be keen to forget this game, the match will remain unforgettable for Aguero. The Argentine ace broke the deadlock after going one-on-one with the Reds goalkeeper, scoring and setting a Premier League record along the way.

It was his 124th goal in the English top-flight since moving to the Etihad from Atletico Madrid. This means the 29-year-old is now the highest-scoring non-European player in the Premier League history.

The Man City forward surpassed Dwight Yorke’s former record of 123 goals. The Tobagonian took 375 appearances to reach that number; Aguero bettered his tally in only 185 games.

His first-half goal against the Merseyside giants also continued his impressive form in front of goal in clashes with Liverpool. The Argentine has faced the Reds six times at the Etihad during his time in England, scoring in every single game.

Aguero continues to prove to Guardiola that although Gabriel Jesus is the new shiny thing at Man City, he remains the go-to guy for important goals.
