After their 2-2 draw with Valencia, Real Madrid know their clash with Levante is a must-win game. Los Blancos returned to the Bernabeu trailing the top two clubs – Real Sociedad and Barcelona – by two points.
Things did not start well for Zinedine Zidane’s crew. The hosts found themselves behind after only 12 minutes, conceding a shocking opener at the hands of Ivi Lopez.
That game saw the Champions League holders reach an unflattering feat. It was the first time in 10 games that Real Madrid conceded first. That run even survived in El Clasico vs Barca, but Levante put it to an end.
But it’s not the end of the world. All that matters is a win, and Lucas Vazquez gave them hope of grabbing all three points by scoring the equalizer.
The winger put Real Madrid level after 36 minutes. The defending champions headed into the break with a tie, but that goal did more than salvage their confidence.
Vazquez’s goal means Les Merengues have now scored in 71 consecutive games, the longest streak ever in Europe’s top-five leagues. Here’s how they compare to other European giants.
