Luckily, Gareth Southgate has received a huge boost. The manager will welcome Eric Dier back to the squad after the Tottenham ace sat out the 4-0 win over Malta due to suspension.
Jordan Henderson will assume the captain’s armband once more, with Joe Hart, Phil Jones and Harry Kane all confirmed to start.
This will be Southgate’s first clash with Slovakia, as their earlier meeting in the qualifying round came under Sam Allardyce’s one-match spell in charge. England needed a stoppage time winner from Adam Lallana to secure them three points.
Scoring against the visitors could be difficult, as they welcome back former Liverpool center-back Martin Skrtel. Jan Durica is also in contention to feature in Monday’s game.
