The French side will now have to prove that Neymar and all footballers purchased in this transfer window were acquired by the association's rules.

After all their big money transfers this summer, Paris Saint Germain will have some explaining to do, as UEFA has launched an investigation against the club due to their alleged breach of the Financial Fair Play Rules.

According to UEFA's website, football's governing authority in Europe will look deep into the transfers made by the team, as there is notion of failing to comply with the "break-even requirement", which forces a team to spend only what their revenue allows them to.

"In the coming months, the Investigatory Chamber of the UEFA Club Financial Control Body will regularly meet in order to carefully evaluate all documentation pertaining to this case," the press release states.

"UEFA considers Financial Fair Play to be a crucial governance mechanism which aims to ensure the financial sustainability of European club football," the document adds.

Barcelona execs demanded an investigation against the French side, particularly because of the transfers involving Neymar and Kylian Mbappé. While the Brazilian's release clause was paid in form by the French side, their move involving the French star could have been made to infringe all FFP rules, given that there's supposed to be an obligatory buyout clause in the contract between Monaco and Les Parisiens.

UEFA will not make any further comments on the matter, since the investigation is now considered as ongoing.
