Will Manchester City ever get rid of their big-money transfer habit? The new transfer rumour in the news is that Edin Dzeko is on Man City’s radar as Wolfsburg play the game of business...
Since a year especially, Edin Dzeko has been a target for big clubs during transfer windows. Real Madrid and Arsenal were thought to be very interested in securing the services of the Bosniac last summer. This winter, however, Manchester City are plotting to beat any other contender for the signing of Wolfsburg’s Dzeko.

This week, coach Steve McClaren heated this transfer rumour by affirming that the Wolfsburg striker may well leave the club anytime soon. ESPN Soccernet quoted the manager as saying:

“We hope that Edin stays, because he’s a world-class striker. But, we’re in the business of football and nothing is 100% certain. We will have to see what happens.”

Edin Dzeko also spoke about his future a few days ago as he revealed that Champions League football was among his ambitions although his current club may not let him fulfil his dream. But the Bosnia & Herzegovina international forward didn’t give any further details on the situation – which, according to him, will be sorted out through Wolfsburg’s decisions.

However, English media the Daily Mail reported that the German outfit was ready to sell Dzeko if Manchester City could afford to splash £38 million for the transfer of the player. It is believed that the 24-year-old striker has contacted Man City through a written letter to confirm his wish to switch to Eastlands during January’s transfer window. So the public can prepare for more transfer window action between Manchester City and Wolfsburg soon, unless the Sky Blues take a quick final decision - which is to meet Wolfsburg's transfer fee price or to drop Dzeko from their wish list.

Edin Dzeko has already scored 10 goals for Wolfsburg in 17 German Bundesliga appearances and 11 goals in a total of 18 matches in all competitions. Should Carlos Tevez quit Manchester City soon and should the Sky Blues win the transfer battle for Dzeko, it will be interesting to see how the club and the striker will cope together throughout the rest of the 2010-11 football campaign.

Who knows? Edin Dzeko could be enjoying partnership upfront with Liverpool’s Fernando Torres. The Spaniard is reportedly also among Manchester City’s transfer window shopping list...
