With time ticking in summer transfer window – deadline day is on August 31 – clubs with business left to do will franticly attempt to pull off deals before time is up. One of those clubs could be Barcelona.
The Blaugrana are reportedly still interested in Philippe Coutinho. Despite breaking the bank for Ousmane Dembele, links with the Liverpool ace have not gone away.
The Reds have been linked with a club-record move for Thomas Lemar, which could be interpreted as preparation for Coutinho’s eventual exit. As of now, the Brazilian remains a Liverpool player.
And according to Guillem Balague, he will remain a Liverpool player for this season. The Spanish football expert has several times before rubbished the Coutinho rumors, doing so again on Monday.
The Sky Sports pundit took to Twitter to reaffirm his previous statements on the club’s stance: they will not negotiate a transfer. He tweeted:
No matter what Catalan press, LFC insist on Coutinho: they not negotiating, no meetings, no conference calls, no putting a price. Not selling
— Guillem Balague (@GuillemBalague) August 27, 2017
Balague offered an update on another transfer saga involving La Liga. The pundit gave insight on the rumors linking Gareth Bale with Man United, rumors which have been circulating for a while.
Injuries saw the Welshman’s importance to the squad drop, as other players excelled in his absence. Furthermore, he was booed by Real Madrid supporters during the 2-2 draw with Valencia.
However, Balague does not see the former Tottenham ace going anywhere. He tweeted: “What a lot of rubbish this story about Bale and Manchester United is. He's going nowhere this summer and no offer has been sent.”
