ESPN Deportes: Most-Watched Supercopa de España Since 2012; Remarkable Live Streaming Audience

ESPN’s English and Spanish-language telecast of Real Madrid vs Barcelona – a Real Madrid victory over their archrival Barcelona  in the home and away Supercopa de España series – was seen by an average audience of 1.1 million viewers across ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes combined, making it the largest audience for the event on the ESPN networks since 2012.  

Fifty-five percent of the average audience of 1.1 million viewers watched the Supercopa on ESPN Deportes. Supercopa de España is the preseason cup competition which pits last season’s La Liga winner (Real Madrid) against the Copa del Rey champion (Barcelona).

The 2017 Supercopa de España finished up 175% compared to the 2016 Barcelona vs Sevilla edition, which averaged 391,000 viewers in the average minute across ESPN Deportes and ESPN2.

  • Coverage on ESPN Deportes averaged 591,000 viewers – making it the most-watched Supercopa de España on the network since 2012.
  • Live match coverage of Supercopa de España 2017 had a remarkable average minute streaming audience of 60,000 unique viewers – record-setting audiences on the platform for Supercopa de España on ESPN. Across all networks streaming provided a 5.8% lift on top of the TV audience.
  • ESPN and ESPN2 averaged 481,000 average minute audience – up 138% from 2016.
  • Both telecasts of Supercopa de España rank as the most social soccer matches on ESPN this year.
