The Premier League champions travel to Tottenham with a depleted squad in Matchday 2.

Chelsea began their title defense with a shock defeat, but things will get more serious for the Blues in Matchday 2 when they lock horns with Tottenham. Fortunately for Conte’s men, they have received two huge injury boosts ahead of their Super Sunday clash.

The reigning English champions could have two players back in their squad for the trip to Wembley Stadium – Spurs’ home ground until their new stadium is complete. Those two players are Eden Hazard and summer signing Tiemoue Bakayoko.

The attacker and midfielder both missed Chelsea’s opening day defeat. Lack of depth and two red cards hurt the London giants and earned them a 3-2 loss to Burnley.

Both Hazard and Bakayoko played in an under-20s clash with QPR behind closed doors. The Belgian ace was on the pitch for only 45 minutes, but that was enough for the former Lille star to score a goal.

The former Monaco midfielder, having recovered from a knee injury, also featured in the 8-0 win over the Rangers. It was also Hazard’s first game since fracturing his foot back in June whilst with his national team.

Although Sunday’s clash with Tottenham might be too soon for Hazard and Bakayoko to start, the duo is likely to land them a spot on the bench. Their return will ease Conte’s selection woes.

Fabregas’ red card in Matchday 1 means the Italian boss will be short in numbers in midfield. With Pedro also injured, and Gary Cahill also suspended, a second defeat in as many games could be on the horizon.
