Match facts

  • This will be the 99th game in all competitions between these teams. Arsenal have walked away with 48 wins, while Leicester City have only beaten the Gunners 18 times.

  • Arsenal have won seven out of the last ten games against the Foxes. The other three games ended in a draw.

  • Wenger's men were the only team capable of beating the Foxes twice during their historic 2015-16 title run.

  • Leicester City's most recent win against Arsenal goes back to the 1994-95 season, a game that saw the Foxes beat the North London side with a  2-1 score.

Preview

Arsenal gets to this match following the ego boost that represents winning the FA Community Shield against Chelsea. Coach Arsene Wenger will be able to use Mesut Özil, Per Mertesacker, Jack Wilshere & Francis Coquelin, but it might be too soon for all of them to start. Santi Cazorla & Alexis Sánchez will miss this one due to injuries, and Laurent Koscielny will watch the game from the stands due to a pending two-match ban.

On the other side of the pitch, the Foxes will have to make do without Vicente Iborra and Danny Drinkwater, as they picked up injuries in the team's recent friendlies. New signing Kelechi Iheanacho could start alongside Jamie Vardy, and fans could see the end of Riyad Mahrez's stint with the team, as he's pushing hard to leave the club this summer.
