Real Madrid aiming to get back on track after Clasico defeat

Real Madrid

Zinedine Zidane's side will be coming into this game after losing El Clasico 3-2. Last weekend's clash in Miami was only the second time that the world-famous tie against Barcelona was played outside Spain, and the first it was played in the United States. And it certainly did not disappoint the legions of American fans who were in attendance. There were five goals scored, but all the honors went to the Blaugrana, where a goal from Gerard Pique was enough to decide the friendly in favor of Ernesto Valverde's side.

It's been a rather disappointing ICC for Real Madrid, who were defeated on spot-kicks by Manchester United and thrashed 4-1 by Manchester City before losing to Barcelona last weekend. They will be hoping to rebound as they take on the best MLS has to offer, especially with a re-match with the Red Devils coming up in the European Super Cup later this month.

MLS All-Stars

Unlike the other top leagues in the USA, which keep their All-Star games in house and just have their Eastern Conferences play their Western counterparts, MLS has opted to try to have their stars play against European competition. In the past, they did emulate what the NBA, for instance does, but as of 2005, for instance, they have played teams like Chelsea, Manchester United, West Ham, Arsenal, Tottenham, Everton, and Fulham.

As one can see, the majority of the time, MLS prefers to play teams from the English Premier League. But, once in a while, they mix it up a bit. In 2014, they tried to match wits with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, and earned a 2-1 victory, but lost 3-1 to Serie A side Roma in their only meeting with an Italian side.

Wednesday's tie will be their first against Spanish opposition. Will it be a successful or frustrating one?
