Match Facts & Stats

  • Chelsea and Inter have each won two and lost two of their four prior meetings
  • The Blues' wins were in two friendlies, whilst the Nerazzurri were victorious in two Champions League meetings in the 2009/2010 season
  • Thie will be the first pre-season meeting between Inter and Chelsea since 2013, when Chelsea defeated the Italian side 2-0 at the 2013 edition of the ICC

Both teams aiming to conclude 2017 ICC tournament on a good note

After thoroughly thrashing London rivals Arsenal 3-0, Chelesa were dealt a setback as they were defeated 3-2 by Bayern. Despite trying to rally back, it was not enough for Antonio Conte's side, who started out rather sluggishly and paid a dear price as Thomas Muller grabbed an early brace to ensure that die Roten earned all three points in that contest.

Alvaro Morata was given some game-time in that fixture and will be expected to play more of a role here as Conte will be looking to get his new signing up to speed ahead of their FA Community Shield clash with Arsenal taking place next month. However, players like Antonio Rudiger, Eden Hazard, Kurt Zouma, and Tiemoue Bakayoko continue to remain on the sidelines due to varied issues, whilst Pedro suffered a concussion from a collision with Arsenal's David Ospina and will play no part in this game.

Inter so far have been quite solid in their ICC campaign. Despite not making any big name signings like cross-town rivals AC Milan, the Nerazzurri have a 100 per cent winning record, with victories against Lyon and notably, Bayern Munich. More impressively, Luciano Spalletti's men have yet to concede a goal, although that will definitely come under threat as they attempt to contain Chelsea, who will be seeking to make amends after their frustrating result against Bayern from their last match.
