Jackson Follman, who had his right leg amputated after the ill-fated crash, took a giant step forward in his recovery process.

Eight months after losing most of his team-mates and his right leg in a plane crash, former Chapecoense goalkeeper Jackson Follman returned to Arena Condá for a very special occasion: running for the first time on the pitch with a prosthetic leg.

Follman was one of three survivors of the ill-fated flight 2933 operated by Bolivian airline LaMia, which carried the Brazilian club to play in the Copa Sudamericana final against Atlético Nacional. After months of therapy, and with the help of a bionic leg, Follman returned to the pitch, sharing his progress via Instagram.

"An unparalelled moment in my recovery process, and a great start of the week. My first run on the pitch! Slowly, you will get very far. Thank you, Lord!"
