4-0. That was the scoreline when the USMNT took on Costa Rica, but depending on what tournament one is talking about, it was either a celebratory day or a nightmare for Stars and Stripes supporters. The USA thrashed Los Ticos during the Copa America Centenario in June 2016 but were the recipients of an awful dish of revenge as Costa Rica defeated them 4-0 during a World Cup qualifier five months later in November.
So far, neither side has really taken off full steam at the Gold Cup, albeit they have made it through sans defeat. Costa Rica got here thanks to an own goal against Panama, whilst the USMNT ground out a tough 2-0 win over El Salvador. However, whilst Costa Rica's attack have not been at their very best, their defense has been nothing short of excellent. Thanks to their industrious approach, they have combined to concede just one goal in their four games so far.
They will, however, be really tested against the Yanks, who have netted nine goals so far and have added some major firepower in the form of Jozy Altidore and Clint Dempsey. Given that the last two games saw a whopping eight goals scored - albeit all on one side or the other - will fans be in for another goal-fest this time around?
