Live Match Telecast on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes; SportsCenter on the Road from El Clásico Miami Starts Wednesday, July 26

ESPN networks will provide unprecedented English and Spanish-language coverage of the upcoming FC Barcelona vs. Real Madrid international soccer match, the featured match in the 2017 International Champions Cup. El Clásico Miami, the first-ever meeting in North American between Spain’s powerhouse club teams, is Saturday, July 29 at Hard Rock Stadium at 7:30 on ESPN, ESPN Deportes, ESPN Deportes Radio and streamed live on the ESPN App. ESPN Deportes’ Spanish-language telecast will be simulcast on ESPN2 at 8 p.m.

Considered the greatest rivalry in sports, Barcelona vs. Real Madrid features Lionel Messi (Barcelona) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid), two players who have combined to win the last nine FIFA Ballon d’Or Awards given annually to the world’s best footballer. Real Madrid has won back-to-back UEFA Champions League crowns.

SportsCenter anchors Hannah Storm, Max Bretos, Antonietta “Toni” Collins and reporter Marty Smith will provide extensive reporting for daily editions of the network’s signature news and information program beginning Wednesday, July 26 through Saturday, July 29. ESPN soccer analysts will appear on the shows and segments from Miami. Highlights:

  • Wednesday, July 26 – Collins previews Paris St. Germain-Juventus International Champions Cup match with former Venezuelan National Team player Alejandro Moreno from Hard Rock Stadium.
  • Friday, July 28 – Storm, Bretos and Collins will host SportsCenter (7-9 p.m.), live from Hard Rock Stadium during open practices for Barcelona and Real Madrid.
  • Saturday, July 29 – Live reports from Miami on Saturday morning editions, as well as a 90-minute edition of SportsCenter on the Road from El Clásico Miami at 6 p.m.

ESPN FC on TV in Miami for El Clásico

Throughout the week of El Clásico Miami, ESPN FC on TV, the daily soccer news highlights, analysis and information program, will air at 5:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2 with re-airs on ESPNEWS at 6 p.m. SportsCenter’s Toni Collins and ESPN FC analyst Alejandro Moreno will report from Miami on Monday, July 24 – Wednesday, July 26. The 30-minute program will originate from Bayfront Park, site for El Clásico Miami Fan Fest (301 N. Biscayne Bay), on Thursday, July 27 with host Bretos; and host Sebastian Salazar from Hard Rock Stadium on Friday, July 28 and Saturday, July 29.

On Saturday, July 29, ESPN will air a one-hour special edition of ESPN FC previewing the Barcelona-Real Madrid El Clásico game live from the Hard Rock Stadium at 5 p.m.

Soccer legends and ESPN Deportes analysts Mario Kempes, 1978 FIFA World Cup champion and Golden boot winner, and Hugo Sanchez, former Real Madrid player and Mexican National Team star, will be featured extensively.   • SportsCenter on the Road: Anchors Carolina Padrón and Álvaro Morales will report from Bayfront Park (Casa de Clásico) and Hard Rock Stadium.
  • Fuera de Juego: Fernando Palomo will host, joined by a rotating cast of ESPN Deportes’ popular and highly-regarded soccer analysts.

ESPNDeportes.com – Sebastián Martinez Christensen will be primary multimedia reporter providing daily El Clásico Miami reports including digital video from the teams’ training camps, interviews with select players, and more. The site will also publish long-form features such as: The 80th anniversary of the first Barcelona world tour; a look at the first El Clásico played outside of Spain; and Barcelona vs. Real Madrid – the Super Bowl of fútbol.

ESPN Deportes Radio at El Clásico Miami Fan Fest – ESPN Deportes Radio programs – Jorge Ramos y su Banda, Raza Deportiva, Es Así y Punto, Zona ESPN, and Destino Fútbol – will broadcast live from Bayfront Park, location for El Clásico Miami Fan Fest (301 N. Biscayne Bay) on Thursday, July 27 and Friday, July 28. Highlights:

  • Programming from the Hard Rock Stadium (July 28): Jorge Ramos y su Banda and Destino Fútbol will broadcast live shows from Hard Rock Stadium beginning at 4 p.m. and including coverage of the teams’ last practices before the game. MLS Special Edition: LA Galaxy-Seattle Sounders at 10 p.m. Following El Clásico Miami

ESPN Deportes will conclude more than nine hours of uninterrupted soccer coverage on Saturday, July 29, with live MLS Special Edition featuring a Major League Soccer’s Western Conference matchup between LA Galaxy and Seattle Sounders at 10 p.m. from the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. The ESPN Deportes telecast will simulcast on ESPN2 – culminating in four hours of back-to-back soccer matches with Spanish-language commentary on ESPN2. LA Galaxy vs. Seattle Sounders will also air on ESPN in English and will be streamed live on the ESPN App.
