Arsenal looking to complete Australian tour with another victory
The Gunners come into this game having earned a hard-fought 2-0 win over local side Sydney FC. Goals from Per Mertesacker and new signing Alexandre Lacazette were enough to give Arsene Wenger's men a victory, but given how Arsenal dominated the game, many surely would have expected a much-larger scoreline. However, Sydney FC put in a good shift, and despite the loss, were not humiliated in the fashion some would have anticipated.
To that end, Arsene Wenger admitted to be "surprised by Sydney FC’s intelligence and defending" and the hosts were largely saved from embarrassment by the strong performance of shot-stopper Andrew Redmayne - who coincidentally, had a trial with Arsenal earlier in his career.
Following this match, Arsenal will next head on to China to prepare for the much-anticipated International Champions Cup, where they will lock horns with a much unwanted, yet familiar foe: Bayern Munich.
