On Friday, the Gold Cup 2017 kicked off with two interesting encounters. The first game saw Canada beat French Guiana 4-2; however, the most anticipated clash of the day was Costa Rica’s encounter with Honduras.
Los Ticos edged out their CONCACAF rivals, winning 1-0. Marco Urena scored the only goal of the day, connecting perfectly with an excellent Rodney Wallace cross.
The Catrachos were the dominate side, managing seven shots on target – their opponents had only three. Costa Rica had their goalkeeper to thank for their clean sheet.
