The 14th edition of the Golden Cup kicks off this month, with the 2017 tournament running from the 7th to the 26th. United States, who will be hosting the competition, are ready to push for the title, and they even have a new kit for their boys to wear.
The Stars and Stripes debuted their new look in the friendly win over Ghana. The kit, which is a “special-edition CONCACAF Gold Cup kit” to be worn throughout the tournament, features bold red and navy blue hoops.
Made by kit manufacturers Nike, tonal obsidian stars can be seen throughout the jersey. To add a further touch of American feel to the shirt, white stars line the sleeves.
National pride is the theme of this special kit, as the words “one nation” and “one team” have been imprinted into the left and right sleeve, respectfully. “We Can,” “We Will,” “We Are,” can be seen on the back of the shirt, knitted inside the collar.
As for the goalkeepers, Brad Guzan and Co. will be wearing a mainly black kit – with black shorts and socks – with the purple sleeves being the breakaway color.
The special kit is undeniably a piece of beauty, but buying one will cut a huge whole in one’s pocket. On U.S. Soccer Store, fans will have to pay $154.99 for the jersey.
