Clubs interested in Neymar have been handed a huge blow, not that singing the Brazilian was easy. The 25-year-old has been linked with a Camp Nou exit despite signing a new deal which runs until 2021.
The Selecao superstar is one of the hottest players in football, and given his age, he could dominate world football soon. The Blaugrana understand Neymar’s potential and are thus eager to fend off interest in the former Santos ace.
One way of making sure Neymar sees out his contract is his release clause. According to Marca, that number has just risen.
The attacker’s initially buyout figure upon signing the new contract was €200m. However, terms in his contract have seen that number rise to €222m, according to Marca.
Regular rises in the Brazilian’s release clause is Barca’s plan to keep the Selecao captain at Camp Nou. €222m is a fee most clubs can’t afford.
Furthermore, that price will continue increasing. That number will go up to €250m in 2018. The price will then not increase for the remaining three years of his deal.
This will be bad news for the likes of PSG and Man United. The French and English clubs were rumored to be after Barca’s number 11, but might have to give up all hope.
