Dortmund seeking to avoid a fourth straight loss...whilst Frankfurt hope to gain a ticket to the Europa League

Eintracht Frankfurt

As things stand, it's seventh-placed Freiburg who will gain a spot in the Europa League. Eintracht Frankfurt started the campaign off well, but stumbled mid-season and were unable to get back on track. However, Niko Kovac's side still have one shot at redemption: by winning the DFB-Pokal. Frankfurt haven't won this award since 1988, but despite sitting in 11th spot, victory on Saturday will gain them a ticket into the Europa League.

However, they are dealing with a series of absences, especially in midfield. Marc Stendera, Shani Tarashaj, and Marius Wolf are all in doubt, whilst Omar Mascarell and Makoto Hasebe are out due to injury. Meanwhile, another option, Guillermo Varela is suspended due to getting a tattoo. Yes, that's right. The Manchester United loanee violated team policy and got inked during the season, which put him at risk for an infection in his arm, so he will play no part in this game.

Borussia Dortmund

As for Borussia Dortmund, they finished in third, so already have an automatic spot in European competition. However, despite booking their spot for next season's Champions League, die Schwarzgelben will want to wrap up this term by clinching the DFB-Pokal. Having lost the last three in a row, Thomas Tuchel's side will be loath to make it a fourth defeat at the Olympiastadion, especially after getting some revenge on Bayern by knocking them out during the semi-finals.

Tuchel is reportedly on his way out after some disputes with Dortmund's board, so at the very least, he will want to sign off on a solid term by leading die Schwarzgelben to their first DFB-Pokal win since 2012. Long-term absentees Mario Gotze and Julian Weigl are still out, whilst Lukasz Piszcek and Marcel Schmelzer are expected to recover from injuries to feature.
