Celtic aim to cap off a strong season with FA Cup win

Celtic

Although they were bitterly disappointed in this season's Champions League, Scottish giants Celtic have excelled in domestic affairs. Brendan Rodgers' men are the first side to complete an entire Scottish Premiership season sans defeat since Rangers did so back in the 1898/1899 term. However, back then, the entire season consisted of only 16 games, which is less than half than the 38 which are contested today.

Well, it's been nearly 120 years since that feat, and the Bhoys managed to make history thanks to a very impressive record of 34 wins and four draws. So far, this season, Rodgers' side have clinched the league title plus the league cup, so a win on Saturday in the FA Cup will earn them a coveted domestic Treble.

Having won their last six meetings with Aberdeen across all competitions, Celtic will be aiming to make it a lucky seven this Saturday. In terms of personnel, Rodgers' main concern for this clash will be key man Moussa Dembele, who will have to be closely monitored and evaluated prior to this weekend's tie.

Aberdeen

Meanwhile, Aberdeen are into the final for the first time in 17 years. The Dons finished this season as runners-up in the Scottish Premiership as well as in the Scottish League Cup. This will thus represent a good chance for Derek McInnes’ side to get one over Celtic and prevent the Bhoys from making it three domestic titles this season.

However, they don't have a good record against their upcoming opponents. In fact, they lost all four of their meetings in the league against the Bhoys and have not beaten Celtic since February 3, 2016, when they defeated them 2-1. Due to his impending move to rival club Rangers, skipper Ryan Jack has been demoted, so Graeme Shinnie will be responsible for leading the team as they aim to win their first Scottish Cup since 1990.
