Although the title race has been already decided, there are still some interesting battles to play for in the Bundesliga. First up is the race for the coveted Torjägerkanone. As things stand, it's set to go down to the final matchday. Robert Lewandowski is the reigning champion, but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is still within grasp of overtaking the Polish international.
Dortmund fans - and neutrals - will certainly want to see Aubameyang win it, as should the Gabonese ace lift the prize, he will become the first African player in over two decades to achieve this feat. Retired Ghanaian striker Anthony Yeboah was the last player from that continent to clinch it, when he won back-to-back awards with Eintracht Frankfurt in 1993 and 1994.
Close race: Will Robert Lewandowski retain his Torjägerkanone prize? Or can his former colleague Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang overtake him to win it on the final matchday?
Another interesting battle on the final matchday of the 2016/2017 Bundesliga season is the race for an automatic Champions League spot. As things stand, Borussia Dortmund and Hoffenheim are tied on 61 points. Thomas Tuchel's men are currently ahead on goal difference:
but of course, that could all change in an instant. Should Hoffenheim beat Augsburg and Dortmund fail to pick up all three points against Werder Bremen, Julian Naglesmann's side will clinch third, which guarantees a Bundesliga side a spot in the group stages, whilst die Schwarzgelben will have to try their luck in the play-offs.
And finally, the last show-down will be between Hamburg and Wolfsburg. Currently, Ingolstadt and Darmstadt are already set for the drop. However, someone could also be set to join them. Right now, Hamburg are the ones sitting in the play-off spot, and die Rothosen again will have to feature in a two-legged play-off to see whether they can remain in the top flight.
Hamburg are the only team who have never been relegated from the Bundesliga. All is not lost, however. They can move out of 16th spot if they can beat Wolfsburg, and as luck will have it, the two sides will lock horns on the final matchday of the current Bundesliga season. A win for Hamburg will take them to 38 points. That doesn't necessarily mean that Wolfsburg are doomed, either. Depending on how things turn out for Augsburg - they could be the ones in 16th place at the end of this term.
