Simeone will welcome one key attacker back from injury for the Champions League semi-final clash.

Injury has not been Atletico Madrid’s best friend ahead of their clash with Real Madrid in the Champions League. Los Rojiblancos have lost a number of key players – mostly in defense – who won’t take part in Tuesday’s semi-final game.

However, Diego Simeone received one huge boost the day before the game. Yannick Carrasco, the Belgian winger who has been influential for the Madrid giants this campaign, has been passed fit to feature in the first leg.

The 23-year-old was initially ruled out of the Bernabeu trip. Having suffered an acromio-clavicular sprain a week back in the 1-0 loss to Villarreal, Carrasco appeared destined to play a part in the reverse leg only.

Fortunately, the Belgian returned to full training ahead of schedule and will thus make a cameo in Tuesday’s game. Simeone could air on the side of caution and start the winger on the bench.

Carrasco could haunt Los Blancos once more. It was the Belgian who scored the second half equalizer in last season’s Champions League final to push the game into extra-time.

Simeone, who is yet to win once against Real Madrid in the Champions League, will be without Sime Vrsaljko, Juanfran and Jose Gimenez.
