It's not been a good year in Europe for German sides. For the first time in over a decade, there will be no Bundesliga sides in the semi-finals of European competition. Bayern Munich were dumped out of the Champions League in very controversial fashion at the hands of Real Madrid, whilst Dortmund were unable to get the better of a high-flying Monaco side. And Schalke suffered heartbreak as Ajax, despite playing with ten men, managed to snatch two away goals en route to winning the series 4-3 on aggregate.
So, it's back to domestic action for all three Bundesliga sides this season, and round 30 kicks off on Friday with Koln locking horns with Hoffenheim.

Bundesliga - Matchday 30 overview
As things stand, Bayern Munich are still on course for a fifth straight Bundesliga title. Die Roten ar e eight points clear ahead of taking on Mainz this Saturday. It's been a rough week for Carlo Ancelotti's side. Although they are in contention to still win at least a domestic double, Bayern were the victims of some awful officiating decisions - all of which went in Real Madrid's favor - as they were dumped out of the Champions League.
It seems that Bayern's Spanish curse is far from over, as for the past four seasons, the Bavarians have been halted in their quest to reach the final by La Liga sides. In any case, having drawn their last match, die Roten will want to pick up all three points against a Mainz side who finally ended their own losing streak last weekend.
Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund battled valiantly, but were no match for a very impressive and high-flying Monaco. Marco Reus's sole goal was not enough to undo the damage from a 3-2 first leg defeat, and now die Schwarzgelben, who sit in fourth, have to focus on securing a top three spot as they prepare to travel to take on Borussia Moenchengladbach.
As for Schalke, they are in action on Sunday against RB Leipzig. Schalke were unfortunate not to be able to seal their spot in the semi-finals, but Ajax truly are a tough side and showed their superiority over two legs to deservedly book their spot in the final four. Schalke take on RB Leipzig, who are now set to feature in next year's Champions League, on Sunday to wrap up matchday 30.
