The English center back established a record for most games as team captain, wearing the armband in 578 different games.

One of Chelsea's legendary footballers will no longer be able to wear that jersey, as the Blues and John Terry decided to call it quits by the end of the season.

The owner of the record for most games played as Blues' captain has only played five EPL games this season, and even if Antonio Conte refused repeatedly to talk about his future, the former English international won't be returning next year after a mutual agreement to end their relationship was announced today.

"The club and I have always had a fantastic relationship, which will continue beyond my playing days. We had some really positive talks but with everything taken into careful consideration I have decided it's the right time for me to leave. I’ve always been conscious that I depart at the right time, in the right way, and I feel that the end of this season is the right time for the club and I," Terry stated in a press release published in the team's website.

Terry will say goodbye to Chelsea as the most decorated player in team history, having won 14 trophies with the Blues. Four league titles and the UEFA Champions League trophies stand out in his resume, which also includes a UEFA Europa League title.

Here are Terry's EPL stats with Chelsea.

According to the press release, Terry will announce his future plans in an upcoming date.
