Bundesliga - Matchday 29 overview

Bayern Munich unfortunately saw their impressive winning streak in Europe at the Allianz Arena come to an end this week. Real Madrid were the last side to beat them back in 2014 when they humiliated them 4-0, and it was the same side to snap their 16-match winning run. Although the reigning UCL champs didn't thrash them this time around, the 2-1 loss means that Carlo Ancelotti's side will have a bit of a hill to climb as they travel to Madrid next week.

However, they will be hoping to welcome back key striker Robert Lewandowski for that game. In the meantime, die Roten, who are comfortably cruising along to another Bundesliga title, will travel to take on Bayer Leverkusen. Although their upcoming opponents are struggling to break into the top half of the table, they will be determined to put up a good fight after suffering a reversal to debutants RB Leipzig last weekend.

Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund have had a very turbulent week. Thomas Tuchel's side saw their UCL tie with Monaco postponed due to a terrorist attack on the team's bus, which left defender Marc Batra injured. Arguably, the team were rightfully still rattled by the terrible events, which took place hours before their scheduled Tuesday clash. Having to play 24 hours later, the team were clearly shaken and lost 3-2 to high-flying Monaco in an entertaining clash.

That being said, they are very much still in the tie, but first will face off against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday. Frankfurt had started this season off pretty well, but now have fallen well off the pace and are winless in their last five. Other fixtures include Hoffenheim looking to recover from a defeat as they welcome Borussia Moenchengladbach, Ingolstadt hoping to continue their mini-revival against Wolfsburg on the road and bottom-ranked Darmstadt facing a tough test against Schalke.
