Iceland fans seemed to have celebrated their Euro 2016 win over England in the knockout stage in style.

The small Nordic nation with a population of 300,000 won the hearts of millions of fans across the world thanks to their sterling performance at the European competition. And nine months down the line after the famous victory over England, local newspaper Visir now reports a record-breaking amount of new-borns in the country.

The newspaper claims that the weekend of March 25-26 saw an increase in the number of patients receiving epidurals - a painkiller common during childbirth. Iceland is not the first country to witness an increase in the number of newborns after a major sporting competition. Germany witnessed skyrocketing figures of up to 30 percent nine months after hosting the World Cup in 2006, while Spain's birth rate grew by 16 percent nine months after Barcelona's 2009 Champions League triumph, according to the Guardian.
