Match facts

  • Wales trail their opponents by four points in the table.
  • Ireland top the group, with ten points from a possible 12.
  • The home side currently boast a four-game unbeaten run.
  • The travelers are without a win against Ireland in their last four meetings (D2, L2).

Team news

A win is crucial for both side, but failure to win for Wales could severely damage their 2018 World Cup hopes. The Dragons are in third with six points, four points behind leaders Ireland, with automatic qualification going only to top spot.

Luckily for Chris Coleman’s side, victory appears to be in their favor. The reason: their opponent’s squad has been depleted by injuries.

Martin O’Neil could have James McCarthy for Friday’s game. The Everton midfielder had been sidelined, but was able to take part in two successive training sessions.

Unfortunately for the home side, they will be without Daryl Murphy and Shane Duffy – both injured. Robbie Brady misses this game through suspension, whilst Wes Hoolahan, Ciaran Clark and Harry Arter all withdrew from the squad.

Wales are more fortunate. Ben Davies is available, whilst Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey can both make their long-awaited return having overcome injury.
