Pep Guardiola's first season as Manchester City's coach is about to end in failure, as he hasn't been able to imprint his style to the Citizens. To make matters worse, his side is 10 points behind EPL leaders Chelsea and he's been eliminated from the UEFA Champions League in the Round of 16 for the first time ever.
The Spanish boss had always been able to lead his teams at least to the semi-final stage. He managed to lead Barcelona four times to that stage of the tournament (eventually winning two titles) while reaching the same stage with Bayern Munich three times. The only season in which Guardiola wasn't able to reach this stage of the competition was during the 2012-2013 campaign, when he took a sabatical after coaching Barcelona for four years.
1 – This is the first time that a side managed by Pep Guardiola has exited the Champions League at the Last 16 stage. Blushes.

Of course, fans trolled the Spaniard mercilessly. Here are some of their best comments.

Pep Guardiola thinks that normally Messi or Robben does something here. Turns round to his bench and there's Fabian Delph.

Thanks to Messi for Guardiola & Enrique managerial careers.

Guardiola can’t achieve much by using fullbacks Wenger had nearly ten years ago, how the club hierarchy let this happen…

Mikel Arteta, Bacary Sagna, and Gael Clinchy. That's all Manchester City needed to get knocked out of Champions league at the last 16
