The German World Cup winner won't be in the squad when the Gunners turn up at Anfield.

On Saturday, Arsenal travel to Liverpool for an exciting Premier League clash. A win will do wonders for the victor’s top-four hopes, whilst defeat will be quite the opposite.

As a result, Arsenal fans will be disappointed by the news that Mesut Ozil won’t feature in the Anfield trip. Despite his poor form, the German remains a lethal playmaker who can create a goalscoring opportunity out of nothing.

The German midfielder has not traveled with the squad. Instead, their record signing remained at home upon advice from the club doctor.

The World Cup winner is suffering from an illness – a flu, to be precise. Arsene Wenger was hopeful that Ozil would recover in time for Saturday’s game, but the former Real Madrid ace is still under the weather.

Ozil has been a busy man off the pitch, but has been fairly quiet on it this season

Wenger does not want to risk the German. The French tactician has decided to leave the 28-year-old out of his squad in order for him to fully recover for their upcoming clash with Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

The north London outfit trail the German giants 5-1 and are in need of a miracle in order to avoid yet another round of 16 exit. The Emirates Stadium will be the venue for the second-leg tie.
