Diego Simeone is a highly sought after manager in the world of football right now. Although there is no confirmation as to whether he will be leaving Atletico Madrid this summer, the Argentine has a pack of clubs chasing after him.
Juventus and Arsenal are two reported suitors, with the latter on the hunt for Arsene Wenger’s replacement as expectations over a summer departure for the Frenchman grows. El Cholo has also been linked with a return to Inter Milan, where he played during his Serie A days.
However, all three clubs look set to be disappointed in their hopes of landing Simeone. According to AS, the Atletico boss has finally made up his mind, deciding to remain with Los Rojiblancos.
As stated in the report, Simeone will remain onboard for the club’s move from their famous Vicente Calderon Stadium to their new 70,000-seat Wanda Metropolitan Stadium. Furthermore, the manager is already working with his transfer-specialist to identify targets for the upcoming summer transfer window.
Although this is a huge boost for the Spanish giants, currently struggling in La Liga, the report also handed them a tremendous blow. AS added that Atletico expect to lose star attacker Antoine Griezmann over the summer.
Having been linked with a mega-money move to Man United, the Frenchman could finally wave farewell to Spain. If so, Simeone will be the best man to find Atletico a replacement.
