Le Classique: A clash between familiar foes Marseille and PSG

Marseille

Marseille's form has been wobbly, but not at home. L'OM have lost just once on their own turf, whilst winning nine and drawing three; by contrast, they have lost eight, drawn three, and won just twice in their travels. Current coach Rudi Garcia is no stranger to huge derby clashes, having served as coach of Roma not too long ago. Their bad away form is costing them valuable points, but fortunately, they are playing at home. And they will have added incentive to beat PSG - a win for L'OM could push them potentially into sixth spot, joint-tied with Bordeaux. Furthermore, should they beat Les Parisiens, they just may end their arch rivals' quest to make it a fifth Ligue 1 title.

However, they will be missing quite a few players due to injury, notably Bafétimbi Gomis, and that is a major concern considering that Gomis is the team's top goal-scorer with 16 in Ligue 1 and 17 across all competitions.

PSG

Right now, PSG's confidence must be sky-high. Especially after their impressive 4-0 demolition of Barcelona in the first leg of their round of 16 Champions League tie. Les Parisiens have had a Blaugrana hoodoo for the past few seasons, but this time around, Unai Emery's side managed to get the better of their opponents. However, they still have a lot of work to do, as they sit in third spot, and both Monaco and Nice won their respective ties on Saturday. That means that currently, Les Parisiens are three behind Les Aiglons and six behind Les Rouges-et-Blancs.

With 11 games to go after this one, dropping points could prove to be costly. After drawing with Toulouse, Emery's men will be coming to their bitter rivals' home ground with one intent: to leave with all three points. There are major concerns about Angel Di Maria's fitness, as he has become a very crucial part of the team's success this term, but should he not be able to feature, new signing Julian Draxler or Lucas Moura could pick up the slack. Thiago Silva is another major worry as he is also recovering from an injury as PSG know that should they fail to win, they might have effectively ruled themselves out of the title race.
