I wasn't involved in Ranieri's sacking - Vardy

Angry Jamie Vardy responds to reports he's behind Ranieri's sacking

February 25, 2017 By Andrew Amoth Wandola
Jamie Vardy is an angry man following Claudio Ranier's sacking, and here's why.

Leicester City star forward Jamier Vardy has responded to rumours that he is among the players who were behind Claudio Ranieri's sacking. The England international, alongside his teammate Riyad Mahrez had been accused by a section of fans of sabotaging Ranieri's work this season.

The 30-year-old striker was on fire last season, having scored 24 goals in 36 league appearances as the Foxes clinched their first-ever league title in their 130-year-old history. This season he has only managed five league goals in 22 appearances, and the King Power Stadium sit in the relegation zone with 21 points out of 25 games.

Vardy took to Instragram to address the rumours hours after the sacking of the fan-favorite manager. He wrote:

I must have written and deleted my words to this post a stupid amount of times! I owed Claudio to find the right and appropriate words! Claudio has and always will have my complete respect! What we achieved together and as a team was the impossible! He believed in me when many didn't and for that I owe him my eternal gratitude. There is speculation I was involved in his dismissal and this completely untrue, unfounded and is extremely hurtful! The only thing we are guilty of as a team is underachieving which we all acknowledge both in the dressing room and publicly and will do our best to rectify. I wish Claudio the very very best in whatever the future holds for him. Thank You Claudio for everything.
