Ranieri says goodbye to Leicester

Ranieri says goodbye at Leicester, as more details on his sacking emerge

February 25, 2017 By Ali M.

Claudio Ranier’s sacking has been hard to swallow for football fans. Whilst pundits and fellow managers have rushed to his support, the Italian has put on a brave smile despite being axed nine months after winning the Premier League.

On Saturday, the Tinkerman made his final trip to the Foxes training ground to clear his locker and bid farewell to the club. Ranieri was all smiles as he made his last trip to last season’s league champions.

Speaking briefly with a Sky News reporter, Claudio said: “I feel good now.”

When asked if that’s truly what he feels, his reply was: “Yes of course, because what we achieved in Leicester I hope could happen again, but it will be very difficult.

“Emotional? ‘No it was normal.”

“I don't speak with anybody, just to say thank you to the fans. They are fantastic. Thank you.”

Ranieri even had a chat with fans in front of his house, on Saturday

This comes on the same day that Ranieri’s biographer, Gabriele Marcotti, claimed that tension with his staff lead to the Tinkerman’s firing. Assistant manager turned caretaker Craig Shakespeare had shared the most tension with the Italian.

Shakespear recently refuted claims that a revolt from the players forced the popular manager out the door. The Times have now revealed some of those senior players who meet with the owner at Seville.

The list included Kasper Schmeichel, Wes Morgan, Marc Albrighton and Jamie Vardy. The Times, however, did state that the players took responsibility for their share in this season’s disappointment.
