Tuchel explains Gotze's game drought

Thomas Tuchel comes clean on why Mario Gotze will miss German Cup tie

February 8, 2017 By Andrew Amoth Wandola
Here's why Mario Gotze has not been featuring for Borussia Dortmund lately, according to the club's manager.

Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel has played down rumours that he is in bad terms with Mario Gotze, who has been left out of the club's last 16 tie against Hertha Berlin on Wednesday. Gotze, a World Cup winner with Germany, also watched BVB's Bundesliga clash with Leipzig on the bench last Saturday, consequently sparking rumours of a row between the star player and the manager.

But according to Tuchel, there is nothing like a bad relationship between him and the player. The German tactician explained that the struggling 24-year-old has an injury that would not allow him to play in today's game. Since returning from Bayern Munich, Gotze has played for 90 minutes in four games only, scoring one league goal in the process.

Here's the video interview with Tuchel regarding Gotze's situation at the club
