Sunday's clash between the USMNT and Serbia in an international friendly at Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego, California could have special memories for Jozy Altidore. The Toronto FC forward is part of the 23-man squad selected by coach Bruce Arena for the friendly tie. If he gets a chance to play, he will make his 100th appearance for the Yanks.
The 27-year-old made his debut back in 2007 and has since scored 37 goals in 99 games for his country. Speaking ahead of the historic match, he told US Soccer:
“It’s a huge honor to get such a milestone after having this as my dream as a little kid, wanting to play on the biggest stages and represent my country. Looking back at all the games I’ve been able to play, all the great memories I’ve been able to have with so many great players, so many events and so many competitions … to be able to have that all culminate on Sunday and be able to look back on all those games, I’m so proud and really honored to have had the opportunity.”
