The Brazilian defender also voiced his thoughts about Cristiano Ronaldo's victory over Lionel Messi in the race to win FIFA's The Best award.

Barcelona's absence from Monday's FIFA Award ceremony was the talk of the day, prompting comments from Cristiano Ronaldo and former Barça ace, Dani Alves.

The Brazilian right back, who left the club to join Juventus last summer, admitted that he was gutted not to see some of his former team-mates in Zurich, and even criticized the board's decision of snubbing the gala.

"I think they should've been here. They are more than ready to play Wednesday's match. We have to respect their decision of not coming to this gala, but I believe they could have made the trip. Besides, I was surrounded by a lot of 'Blancos'(referring to Real Madrid players), and I felt really, really bad," Alves stated.

Alves, known for his continuous banters against Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid, extended an olive branch after the Portuguese ace won the trophy.

"Cristiano deserved to win. Maybe if they had asked me, I would have voted differently, but either way I think it's fair," the player concluded.
