Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has cleared the air about the recent transfer speculations sorrounding the club this winter. The Red Devils, for one month, will be without their star defender Eric Bailly who will on international duty with Ivory Coast at the African Cup of Nations.
His departure has sparked rumors that the Portuguese manager wants to sign a new defender to fill into his space. A number of top defenders in Europe have been linked with a move to Old Trafford this January, with Benfica's Victor Lindelof topping the list, followed by Southampton's Jose Fonte and Real Madrid's Pepe respectively.
But according to the former Chelsea boss, he does not intend to sign any defender despite Bailly's absence. Sky Sports quotes him as saying:
“No, I wait for Bailly.
“I hope the three [Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling] can control the situation in those eight matches [without Bailly].”
