The Gabonese striker was harshly criticized for his outfit during the CAF Gala, but there was a reason behind his choice of clothing.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made headlines even if he wasn't awarded the 2016 African Player of the Year award. Unfortunately for the striker, he did so for all the wrong reasons.

"Auba" was heavily criticized for his attire during the ceremony, where he was spotted with a red cap, a red t-shirt and black pants. Fans were baffled by his dressing choices, especially when he appeared next to Riyad Mahrez and Sadio Mane, who wore black suits to the occasion.

What most people didn't know was that Aubameyang's luggage was misplaced by the airline that transported him to the event. In fact, the player had already posted a picture on his Instagram account revealing this issue with his personal belongings.

Riyad Mahrez eventually beat Aubameyang to the prize by a 48-point margin, which will surely cap an evening to forget for the Gabonese player. Let's just hope that the airline can deliver his luggage in the next few days.
